Admit it! Singing is one of our stress relievers.
We don’t care if we’re on the right tune. We just want to shout it out. While trying
to reach those high-voice wrecker notes, you felt a little dryness and
coarseness but you didn't mind it. Instead you had a lip session with your very
cold magic drink to feel relief. The next day you woke with a little uneasiness
and you had a hard time uttering a word but you were not worried. It seemed
normal to you but think of this, laryngitis is no chicken. If you love your
voice, here are some advice I could give:
DON'T EVEN WHISPER
Talking is the major enemy
of laryngitis. As much as possible don't even whisper. Whispering causes
your vocal cords to bang as like you are shouting. Give your voice a rest.
HOT AND COLD
HOT AND COLD
It is important to maintain the
moisture of your vocal cords. You can use a cold air modifier or you could have
yourself inhaling bowl of steaming water for 5 minutes twice a day.
WATER BREAK AND NO TO ICE
This is also to keep your cords
moist. Drink at least eight to ten glasses. Tea with honey or lemon is also
good.
It will cause dryness and
coarseness.
Menthol and mint are not good; it
will have a drying effect. Honey and lemon flavored drops are a lot better.
AMPLIFY IT
If your job requires shouting and
yelling, don't strain your voice. Use a microphone or a mechanical amplifier.
If you really like singing, do it
professionally. Have a trainer and sing correctly.
